AfterGlow Games ("we", "us", "our") is a UK-based independent games studio operating this website at afterglowgames.com. This policy explains what information we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Analytics. With your consent, we use Google Analytics (Google tag / gtag.js) to understand how visitors use the site - pages viewed, general location at country level, device type, and how you arrived here. This relies on cookies and similar technology and only runs after you accept our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time via "Cookie Preferences" in the footer.
Contact form. If you use the contact form, we collect the name, email address, and message you provide. This is submitted to Netlify (our hosting provider, which processes form submissions on our behalf) and stored in our own database so we can read and reply to your message.
Nothing else. We don't run advertising trackers, sell data to third parties, or collect payment information - all game purchases happen on Steam, under Valve's own terms and privacy practices, not ours.
2. Cookies
The only non-essential cookies this site sets are for Google Analytics, and only once you've accepted them. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
3. Legal basis for processing
We rely on your consent for analytics cookies, and on our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries you send us for contact form submissions.
4. Who we share data with
We use a small number of third-party services to run this site, each of which processes data on our behalf:
- Netlify - website hosting and contact form delivery
- Supabase - database storage for contact form submissions
- Google Analytics - site usage analytics, only with your consent
We don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
5. Data retention
We keep contact form submissions for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you and maintain a record of the enquiry, after which we delete them. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings.
6. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, and EU GDPR if you're located in the EEA, you have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, to object to or restrict its processing, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, get in touch via our Contact page. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) or your local EEA data protection authority.
7. Third-party links
This site links out to Steam, Discord, YouTube, TikTok, and Reddit. Once you leave our site, their own privacy policies apply - we're not responsible for how they handle your data.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
